Missy is a 16 year old junior at Crystal Cathedral High School where she has been a student since kindergarten. She is the service committee president, 1st chair in the chamber orchestra, teachers’ assistant, and a 4.0 honor student.

At Crystal Cathedral Academy and High School, Missy has been awarded numerous scholarships in the areas of music, drama, and dance. She was also honored to be the co- hostess for three years at the annual Arvella Schuller Scholarship program, Missy appeared on the Hour of Power for five years as a member of the Academy choir, and was also a featured guest of Dr. Robert Schuller on this international television program.

Missy has been playing the violin for 6 years. During this time, she has played in her school’s orchestra, and for two years was a member of the Orange County Junior Orchestra.

Missy’s first love is acting, and has been in numerous plays and musicals. She has made commercials and was a finalist for Discovery Kids on Camera. She was cast as “Little Donna” on the KIIS- FM radio program with “Rick Dees in the Morning,” where she had the pleasure of speaking to celebrities as a segment of the show. This past year she was cast as a flying angel in the Crystal Cathedral’s production of the Glory of Easter.

Last year, Missy organized Denim Day at her high school. This is a national day to support breast cancer research by donating five or more dollars and wearing denim to school or work. The success of the event in its first year was so positive that her goal is to encourage the entire school and staff this year, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Missy’s future plan is to attend Biola University and major in Film/Radio/TV. She plans to continue with her violin studies, and acting classes.

The honor of being Garden Groves Outstanding Teen is one that Missy intends to wear proudly. Because of the many positive influences in her life, she hopes to be a role model and inspiration to young girls and to share her motto, “Prepare yourself, and the opportunity will come!”
